Indoor Water Features- General FAQ's.

glass water wall for a corporate lobby in New York

Q. Do the water features require a water supply?

A. Yes, a 1/2" cold water supply is typical. Refer to our typical mechanical specs.
Q. What are the electrical requirements?
A. Requirements vary depending upon size of water feature however most installations are serviced easily with a 15 Amp GFCI circuit. Refer to our typical mechanical specs.
Q. Is a drain required?
A. Typically, yes and it is highly recommended- not only for overflow protection but for minimizing required maintenance.
Q. Can the indoor water features you build be self-contained?
A. Yes, but we don't recommend it. Connecting your water wall the the building water supply has many advantages with reduced maintenance being the most important.
Q. Do you build free-standing water features?
A. We discontinued our free-standing waterfalls in 2005. We now specialize in built-in water features and the specialized components needed to build an indoor waterfall of any size.
Q. Can your water features be installed outdoors?
A. Yes, but only under certain conditions, construction types and geographical location due to freeze-thaw issues.
Q. How much maintenance is required? (we get this one a lot)
A. Required maintenance is minimal and typically requires filter replacement every 6 months and only annual cleaning of the basins due to our various water purification methods.
Q. How much sound does a typical indoor waterfall produce?
A. Sound level is a function of the water flow rate and the overall height of the waterfall. Every indoor waterfall we build has a built-in flow control on each pump for precise flow and volume of sound control.
Q. What is the lead time on an order?
A. Lead times vary depending on the scope and complexity of the water feature. Most orders are fabricated within 3 to 4 weeks of shop drawing approval. Lead time for shop drawings / submittals is typically one week. Our quick-ship systems have a short lead time of approximately two weeks.
Q. What is your product warranty?
A. Our water features and system components are covered for a period of one year from defects in workmanship and materials. Our pumps have a two year manufacturers' warranty.
Q. How long does it take to install an indoor waterfall system?
A. Installation time will vary depending on the type and size of the water feature and the context of the installation. Our standard indoor waterfalls would require approximately 20-30 man-hours however this is only a very rough estimate and your installation may vary considerably.
Q. Do the indoor waterfalls splash?
A. Nope. We guarantee that your waterfall will not splash at all provided the correct facing material is installed. Please contact us if you have questions on a facing material you would like to use.
Q. How can Origin Falls help with my design?
A. We are happy to assist designers in developing a design for a custom water feature that will meet their budget and design intent. We never work on commission and our phone assistance is provided with no obligation at all. Many designers and Architects have specified our products after working with us on preliminary design and we certainly appreciate that but we don't expect it.
